Global Shares Announced 150 Jobs

Global Shares announced 150 jobs that need to be filled immediately. In addition, the Fintech firm have announced plans to increase their total employees to 1,000 by 2024.  

The Headquarters of Global Shares, located in Clonakilty has created software for employee share plan management. Global Shares are expecting that over the next few years, their business will expand significantly.  

The announcement was made on the 11th of September and Taoiseach Micheál Martin attended. Global Shares announced 150 jobs that are high-skilled and need to be filled right away. These jobs will be in areas such as cybersecurity, compliance, software development, project management and financial reporting.  

Global Shares currently employs 167 staff at its headquarters in Clonakilty and 35 in its Cork city centre office. The Fintech firm also has offices in Hong Kong, Miyazaki, London, Beijing, Nashville, Barcelona, New Jersey and Tokyo.  

They also plan to increase the number of its total workforce from 370 to 1,000 by 2024. Global Shares has also said that they will be on track within the next four years to achieve unicorn status. Businesses usually only achieve unicorn status when they have a valuation over $1 billion. Unicorn status is usually reserved for businesses with a valuation of over $1 billion. 

Tim Houstoun, CEO for Global Share says, “Our growth over the past couple of years has been enormous, but over the next few years, we’re aiming to be west Cork’s first unicorn, and we’re on track to achieve that,”.  

He adds, “This is something that is exciting for many reasons – including the fact that as an employee-owned company, many of our own staff will reap the rewards of the hard work they’ve put in over the years.” 

A Remarkable Journey Says Taoiseach 

Found as a services company in 2005 in Clonakilty, Global Shares has come a long way. In 2015, they launched their proprietary software platform and their current clients include Cargill, Krispy Kreme, Fujitsu and many more.  

Micheál Martin has said that Global Shares’ impact has been “a remarkable one” and that this recruitment announcement “marks another step in what is an exceptional journey”.  

These jobs are being created with the support of Enterprise Ireland. Julie Sinnamon, CEO of the agency has said that they have worked closely with Global Shares for many years and has supported its growth from Clonakilty into over 100 markets worldwide.
