Back story

The very first Lidl store opened in Ludwigshafen in 1973. Since then, the company has expanded throughout Europe. They now operate in over 30 countries, with more than 10,000 stores and over 140 Regional Distribution Centres. As a result, they currently have the largest network of discount grocery retailers in Europe.

Lidl Ireland employs over 4,500 employees nationwide. Furthermore, they employ people in various capacities, from a variety of different backgrounds and with different levels of expertise.

Training and Development

Lidl is serious about the career development of their employees. Many of their managers have successfully advanced in their careers, from starting positions in their stores. Structured, on the job training is the foundation of their training concept. This gives their employees the opportunity for further development both professionally and personally. All employees receive the training and support they need to reach their full potential and to progress within the company.

Graduate

The company’s Graduate Management Development Programme gives graduates the opportunity to gain international work experience. This programme gives graduates a full understanding of their business. It includes a 6 months sales training programme and a year’s placement within your chosen area. High performers will have the opportunity to extend their training and spend 6 months in Germany learning German and spending time in their International Head Office.

Corporate Social Responsibility

Lidl takes seriously their role within the communities in which they work. The company works  with over 200 local suppliers and actively engages in communities across Ireland through charity partnerships, donation programmes and LGFA sponsorship. Alongside their community initiatives, they are also committed responsible sourcing, protecting the environment and encouraging and developing their team of colleagues.
