About Collette

Collette Bryson holds a Diploma in Life and Executive Coaching from Positive Success Group and a Certificate in Career Coaching from Irish Lifecoach Institute.  She came to coaching following a career in general legal practice spanning 20 years where she covered a wide variety of practice areas.  She is also a qualified mediator.

Collette established Engage Life Coaching, having made the decision (with the help of coaching) to step away from the legal profession.  She has a keen interest in career coaching; particularly in career changes.

She volunteers as a career coach at Jobcare, coaching unemployed people, has also facilitated their Jobnet course and has been a guest speaker with them on the topic of “Effective CV Production”. She has also volunteered at Intreo Job Fair and Future Sparks Festival for the last 2 years.

 Collette is a strong believer in the natural potential of others and the power of positive thinking and strives to help others reach their goals.

Recruit.ie  have announced the launch of a new mobile recruitment app, which will be available to download within the next month.

The app will match recruiters and job-seekers and ensure that the right candidate always gets the right job with the right company. The app promises to deliver long-term, successful placements for all its users.

Careers in the Irish Defence Forces

The Irish Defence Forces is the military of Ireland. They encompass the Army, the Naval Service, the Air Corps and the Reserve Defence Forces.

The Army is a standing force and provides the primary capabilities for joint military operations at home and combined military Peace Support Operations abroad.

The Naval Service is the State’s principal seagoing agency with a general responsibility to meet contingent and actual maritime defence requirements. It is tasked with a variety of defence and other roles.

The role of the Air Corps under the Defence Act is to contribute to the security of the State by providing for the Military Air Defence of its airspace.

General Service Recruitment Army / Naval Service.

Recruitment into the Army and naval Service is open all year round. Applications can be made online at our website www.military.ie

Naval Service Recruit training is 22 weeks in duration and the Naval Service are based in Co. Cork. On successful completion of recruit training an able rate can be trained in one of the four branches: Seaman’s Branch, Mechs branch, Logistics Branch or Comms Branch. Applicants must be over the age of 18 and under the age of 27.

Army Recruit training is 15 weeks long followed by the Pte 3* course of training which is 10 weeks in duration. On successful completion of initial training, opportunities are available to serve in a variety of corps and appointments. Apprenticeships in Heavy Vehicle Mechanics, Engineer electrician, carpenter, plumber, Comms and IT are available to serving soldiers annually. Applicants must be over the age of 18 and under the age of 25.

Officer Cadetships (Army line, Army tech, Air corps pilot, Naval service line, Naval Service tech and Equitation)

The Defence Forces are also looking to enlist Officer Cadets. A Cadet is a Military Officer in training. Officers are the leaders, decision makers and managers of the Defence Forces. They are the platoon commanders in the Army, the pilots in our Air Corps, and the navigators and engineers in the Naval Service. An Officer leads, directs and motivates our frontline troops.

The role comes with very real mental and physical challenges. Officers are expected to lead from the front in all situations. Officer Cadets engage in 17 months training in the Military College, Curragh Camp, Kildare. Here, they cover many basic and practical soldier skills. Additionally, they learn military fields of study before taking up an operational appointment in the Permanent Defence Forces. The Defence Forces is looking for people who have the potential to:

After completing Officer training, cadets are commissioned into a Service Corp — Infantry, Artillery, Cavalry, Supply & Transport or Communications Information Systems. Furthermore, there are opportunities for development, growth, variety and responsibility will come your way.

Technical Graduate Cadetships are offered each year depending on current vacancies in the Engineer and Ordnance Corps. Graduates must possess level 8 qualificatiosn as listed in T&Cs.
